Inspiration Story Time #7 – Are you a Potato, Egg or… Coffee?!

Revamped video concept! Feedbacks will truly be appreciated 🙂

It takes a much longer time to produce as I have lots more editing to do (Recording, animation plus sourcing for images, word placement and etc) but I truly feel this style of “Story Telling” works much better than my initial “Video person talking to you” approach.

Is this format much more engaging? More attention grabbing? More annoying? Whatever it is, be it Good or Bad-

Let me know what you think, yeah? Brutal honesty will be appreciated for the benefit of everyone 😀

Your pal,
Benjamin

  1. Hi Benjamin, I really like what you are doing with your vlog, it is awesome! Scrolling through your videos, I see lots of growth and each video is better than the last. Having said that, you asked for my honest opinion. I am sure your goal is to pass on inspirational messages in a way that catches your audience; also to expand your audience. It could be fun-filled or otherwise so far the message was clearly communicated.

The animation route is fantastic but don’t let go of using you in a video too. With this current potato, egg and coffee bean vlog, I can definitely see that a lot of work has gone into making it which is applaud-able. I also took note of the brief comparison between the hard egg and how hard her exams were hahaha. Animation was definitely the right choice for this story.

hmm… I don’t know how to create animations but however, I feel like you used many different father-daughter picture cast (hope you understand what I mean?). I think it did be better if you used one father daughter picture cast but with many scenarios while presenting or explaining the potato, egg and coffee bean analogy. Also with the pots, I think it would have been better if they appeared on a solid surface in the kitchen as opposed just making them appear on the lovely kitchen picture 😦 .

There is nothing wrong with using you, it only demands that you to put in a lot of work since it is story telling. I definitely don’t want to see a plain video (if you get what I mean). The right background matters, your mood matters, the music matters, your closeness or distance from the camera matters etc. It is something that carries me along when I watch whatever video there is to watch. It helps me understand and even personalize the message. Believe me when I say “That’s where change begins in a person’s life”.

You can also explore the use of breath-taking pictures -perhaps of nature or event- along side music to covey your message. i know you already know that. I which i had more technical terms to explain better but that’s all I can afford for now. I will do my homework lol and communicate much better. Keep it Up Benjamin… I am inspired!

    1. Ahh thank you, Grace! I’m already thinking about different ways to work around the concept of incorporating myself along with animations 🙂

Tis’ true for all the little details, thanks for putting it down for me- I really appreciate all these feedbacks! They are life-changing so rest assured, your words has also inspired change 🙂

Your message is clear as day + crystal XD
Don’t worry about it too much hahah let’s work to better ourselves together eh?

If you ever got an idea to do something wanna work on it together as well, do let me know!

Do you plan on making videos in future??

      1. Wow powerful video. Watched the whole thing and it really drives one to think about life. Especially the choices we make in life.

You wrote the whole thing? Also, correct me if I’m wrong but were you the Pastor in this movie? :3

      2. I wrote the story and directed it.. but it was only one guy videoing and because he was older and a media student, he did what he wanted… it was annoying. The youth leader in the video was my elder sister. You can’t see me in the video

      3. Wait, you were the director so shouldn’t you be the one who calls the shot??

I gotta say, the intro flashback scene was very nicely portrayed- So much so that I can still remember it in my mind. The actors did pretty well too!

I see. Would you guys be making more?

      4. Yes I should have been but if you have people that feel they know more and yet can’t visualize what you see, it ends up a mess.. plus it was the first time for all the actors.. the light lady had to play the role because the actress for the role had an emergency, so it was last minute for her. Yes, I am planning to re-shoot the Video and any more videos ahead. I pray for a good team.

      5. Hahah I see. And it’s still a good turn out in my opinion, considering the obstacles faced!

When you do get the reshot version up, let me know in case I don’t see it in my subscription update! I’d love to see the new one 🙂

Indeed. Perhaps you can try it yourself if you can’t get a good camera guy again?

      6. XD it’s easy! Just point and shoot hahaha! Well I guess we can learn all the complicated stuff to make it epic but hey, always good to work things out yourself if ppl can’t make it right- even if you’re not the best at it, at least the product that’s produced is closer to what you envisioned 😉

        Likewise, bless you too!

  2. This was pretty cool!! I loved it. Yes, we all have parts of potato, egg and coffee in us. It’s just that we need to recognise what we are in a particular situation.
It was truly inspirational and the video was awesome.
I’m so glad I saw it!!

    1. Aww thank you for this super sweet comment 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed it- Would be a bad sign if you didn’t lol!

Is there anyway, in your opinion, I can work to improve upon for this video?

  3. This was cool and actually was engaging too 👍👍. Music, animation, presentation everything was good. But of course you were missed. (a suggestion) maybe after the story you can explain the moral or give a message related in the end/ in the beginning you can tell the context. That way neither your presentation nor you will be missed. 🙂

    1. Ahh got it Hope! Thank you for the feedback XD

I’ve actually revamped the show again after thinking things through with the feedbacks and this time, it’s going to be REALLY DIFFERENT from what I’ve been doing. I’d love to get your feedback on it when it’s up this Saturday and hope you can let me know what you think of it!

I will check in with you again, if you are cool with this? No obligations though! Let me know mkay?
